Jenny Meets Her Cousins Via Social Networks
1. Meet Jenny Bar. Jenny is a 25 year old business professional from Plastic City, who just found out she has distant family who live 100 miles away in Barbie City. Jenny learns that her uncle is in the same profession so she is very eager to meet him and the rest of her family.
2. Meet The Bar Family. (Right-Left) Father: Leon, Daughters: Lora (19) and Lisa (15), Mother: Linda.
3. Jenny decides to look her family up on Social Networks to see what to expect before visiting. This is what she learns....
Leon has recently activated a twitter account to promote his business. He was told young people love tweeting and he wants to target more youthful clients. The results of his twitter account has been a drop in business, especially by the young clients and Jenny automatically sees why. Leon has tweets about his life and pictures of his luxury cars he can afford. There is hardly any information about his business and who they serve.
4. Linda Bar is a self made professional chef, who likes to post videos on facebook of herself cooking in the kitchen. Jenny sees that her aunt does not have a lot of facebook page likes and can tell this is because of the quality of her videos. Aunt Linda also does not look very professional.
5. Jenny found her cousin Lora Bar on instagram. It did not really tell her much about Lora other than the fact that she is a pro at taking selfies.
6. Lisa is 16 and Jenny knew she could find her on the video sharing network Vine. She was disturbed to find out that Lisa is a huge fan of Miley Cyrus and has many videos of her and her friends twerking.
7. Jenny now has a first impression of her distant family in the city. She is a little nervous about how well she will get along with everyone. She makes sure to pack her Google Glasses before leaving so she can capture every moment of her expected to be unpleasant trip.
8. After a few days with her family Jenny learns they are very different from how they appear on to be on social networks. Uncle Leon is actually very humble but thought young people like fancy and flashy things and that that would draw them in. Jenny suggested he talk more about his company and instead of posting pictures of him and his nice toys, post pictures of him and his happy clients. Jenny even offered to take a few with her Google Glasses.
9. Jenny learns that Aunt Linda's food is delicious and she is an incredible cook. She helps her get more facebook page likes by taping some short good quality videos with her Google Glasses. She also helps Aunt Linda make a website.
10. Lora is a university student who is very smart and very talented. Jenny helps Lora take some professional shots and start her business portfolio early. She also gives her some advice about how she should market herself on social networks.
11. After getting over their difference in opinion about Miley, Jenny learns that Lisa is very good at gymnastics and hopes to one day compete in the Olympics. Jenny explains to her that twerking is not an Olympic sport and showing off her gymnastic skills on Vine and other networks will be more beneficial to her. She tapes Lisa doing some trick with (of course) her Google Glasses.
12. After her week long vacation with her distant family, Jenny has learned that she can not always judge a book by its cover or a person by their network activity.
The Bar Family also learned that they need to pay more attention to how they present themselves online.
